This
introduction to how the European Union decision-making really
works is aimed at participants who:
- have at least some experience in local, national or international
campaigning
- wish to deepen their ability with regards to the European
Union
- want to exchange experience with colleagues and EU practitioners

You
will discover:
- the relevance of the EU for your type of work
- the way the EU functions
- how you can be involved in EU policies
- the importance of combining EU lobbying with working nationally
and regionally |
You
will better be able to:
- obtain and understand information on EU policies and procedures
- communicate with EU decision makers and officials
- recognise your target groups, potential allies and adversaries
- develop a lobbying strategy
- have an impact on EU policies

| The
2 days programme will include the following items: |
| General
introduction to the EU
- who does what in the EU and around
- EU decision-making: from agenda setting to policy implementation
- which EU policies are relevant for the not-for-profit sector
- David against Goliath? NGO networking and lobbying in the
EU |
Visits
and meetings with the Brussels practitioners
- the European Parliament - live at work
- officials of the European Commission
- officials from EU member states
- experienced NGO lobbyists |
Doing
the real work
- analysing real life case studies
- drafting your own strategy and action plan |
| Throughout this
agenda, we alternate working in interactive plenary discussions
and practical exercises, individual and group work, based on
your own experience, needs and experience. The programme will
be adapted on the basis of a questionnaire sent to participants
prior to the training. |

Attendance will be
limited to 15 participants per session. |

440€ instead of 520€ if you make an early payment.

The fee includes
a comprehensive documentation set for each participant, refreshments
and lunch. |

There are reduced
rates for additional participants from the same organisation
(see registration form) and a 10% discount for members of ID's
and participants from organisations which have already taken
part in previous training sessions. |

will take place next to the European Parliament (Metro Maelbeek).
